I, LaKenya (KeKe to some), am a Board Member of the Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity and a 2022 Mosaic Fellow, vetted and hand-picked for my community service by the Indianapolis Foundation and Leadership Indianapolis.

From October 27 to November 2, I have the opportunity to represent GIHFH on a visit to Habitat Kenya to celebrate their 41st year of innovative housing solutions.

As a board member of the local Habitat affiliate I will connect with Kenyan partners and neighbors to learn of their successes and challenges. The Kenyan housing crisis is steeply more severe than our own and yet they have Wins, of course. This is the opportunity to learn answers to: "What can be gleaned and adapted from Habitat Kenya (and other participating affiliates) to appropriately and efficiently stabilize housing-insecure neighbors and families here in the Greater Indianapolis area?"

Upon returning from the trip, I will continue to work with other individuals and organizations to bring globally innovative housing solutions to our region.

This opportunity to be in KENYA is a lifelong dream come true! I am named after this very place! However, with only days to raise the funds, I need YOUR HELP to make this a reality. The money raised here will cover my airfare and additional travel expenses (visa, vaccinations, meals, etc.).
