The Lakehead Women’s Championship Cup has quickly grown into an annual community tradition. After being overwhelmed by the support shown at last year’s inaugural tournament, we made the decision to keep the same campaign active and carry forward the 1500 dollars already raised. This year, we are building on that momentum with a combined fundraising goal of 3000 dollars in support of Faye Peterson House.
The 2025 tournament will take place on Sunday, November 30, from 5pm to 11pm at the Lakehead University Hangar Athletics Facility. In addition to the matches, the event will feature family-friendly entertainment and activities for all ages. Community members are encouraged to attend, enjoy a great evening of soccer, and show their support for local athletes and for the work of Faye Peterson House.
Why the Carried Forward Amount Matters
Keeping the same campaign active allows us to show students and community members the total impact of the tournament since it began. After this year’s event, we will present a cheque for the full amount raised to Faye Peterson House and set a new annual fundraising goal for next year’s tournament.
About the Cause
This tournament supports Faye Peterson House, a vital organization that provides shelter, safety, and support to women, youth, and families experiencing violence. All funds collected through this campaign are transferred directly to Faye Peterson House to help sustain these essential services.
