2025 Lakehead GNCTR
Donation protected
We are a dedicated team of engineering students focused on building a concrete toboggan for the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR), applying practical skills while promoting sustainability and teamwork. Our goal is to design and construct a functional, environmentally conscious toboggan while gaining hands-on experience in a fun and collaborative way.
The Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race is one of the longest running and largest engineering competitions in North America. It assembles over 400 students from 20 universities across Canada. Each school will be manufacturing a toboggan made of concrete and other materials in the months leading up to the race. This year’s race will be hosted by the University of Concordia in Montréal, Québec, from January 22nd to January 26th, 2025.
This year, Lakehead University will be competing in the GNCTR for the first time ever. This year’s team consists of over 25 engineering students and alumni, whom are all passionate and eager to take on the project!
We are looking to industry, external sponsors, as well as our Faculty to help support our design team. Our participation in the GNCTR would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors. Thank you for your consideration in sponsoring Lakehead University's very first GNCTR team!
