The Lake Wobegon Trail in Stearns County, MN skirts lakes, traverses farms and fields and connects the small towns that inspired Garrison Keillor to create the fictional town of Lake Wobegon. In turn, I imagined the need for Lake Wobegon Outfitters, the place to go for Bikes, Boats and Boards in Central MN.

Hi, my name is Wayne, and I’m using GoFundMe for two reasons; to find out how many folks would like to have an outdoor gear rental service in the area (aka Market Research) and raise the cash to bring it to life.

I’m a lifelong outdoor enthusiast. I’ve hiked and biked since I was a kid, learned to paddle a canoe while in high school (thanks for coming along, sister Sue) and started racing canoes in college. I’ve combined my interest in these sports by competing in multisport races known as offroad triathlons in recent years. Paddle, Run, Bike (not necessarily in that order). I want to share my love of the outdoors with you so you can benefit from the fun and fitness of the outdoor lifestyle as I have.

I intend to register the business as a Public Benefit Corp. That means we must adhere to principled business practices that serve the public interest, achieved through the mission of teaching and sharing the joys of fun and fitness in the outdoors, all while limiting environmental impacts.
