Lake Houston Area Artists Need Help

Lake Houston Area Artisis is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote interest and opportunities to artists, professional, amateur, and student, in the Lake Houston area.  We want to encourage participation in and appreciation of art-related subjects through education, exhibition, and community outreach.  Each year we have awarded a scholarship to a deserving art student at Lone Star College.  We also host two yearly art shows in the fall and spring.  The public is always welcome to come view the work submitted by our members and to purchase pieces if they so desire.  We have also been able to display delected works at the Kingwood Public Library.

Like many of us, LHAA has been profoundly affected by Hurricane Harvey.  For each of our art shows we use large fabric-covered panels to display our artwork.  Each show typically uses as many as 30-40 panels.  During the recent floods, all our panels became inundated with flood waters, and they have had to be discarded.  As a result, we will not be able to have a Fall Art Show.  These shows are one of our main money-making activities for the year, so we will not be able to present a scholarship this year, either.  We are now faced with the prospect of having to replace some 50 panels at $100 each.  Put simply, we can't afford it.

We hope you will be willing and able to contribute some amount for the replacement of our art panels.  We are making every effort to re-equip so we can invite you to our art show in the spring!

Thank you.
