Lake District Search & Mountain Rescue Association
We are apprentices from Morgan Sindall and have been given the opportunity to undertake a series of fundraising events to raise money for a charity of our choosing through an apprentice challenge. From this, we have together chosen that the Lake District Search & Mountain Rescue Association is the charity we want to raise money and awareness for. As an organisation that is very prominent in our local area with all workers being volunteers, we want to raise money to enable further training to be given to people and create awareness of the work carried out by the Mountain Rescue hubs across Cumbria.
Lake District Search & Mountain Rescue are a voluntary organisation that rely solely on the generosity and support of public donations. There are 10 hubs across Cumbria with over 450 dedicated volunteers that are on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year responding to emergency callouts of people in the Lake District.
We believe a series of sponsored fell walks would be a great way to raise money and awareness of Mountain Rescue but also educate the public on the safety precautions that need to be taken when choosing to go fell walking and the adequate equipment to enable an enjoyable walk. These walks will span over the course of 8 months with the aim to complete as many Wainwrights as possible.
All donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
