La Isla started in 2003 as a street vendor at the Fremont Sunday Market. The delicious food has deep roots in Puerto Rico as three native chefs have created all the recipes. Since it’s inception, the menu has evolved to be local Puerto Rican fare with Pacific Northwest influences.
On October 7th, along with four-five other businesses, La Isla experienced a catastrophic 3 alarm fire and has been declared a total loss. This comes at a particularly rough time as we had just closed our doors for rebranding and revitalisation as the La Isla Lounge.
We have been a part of the Ballard community for years, and have every intention of rebuilding as this is our home. To do this, we are asking for some help. As there’s always a gap between insurance and the actual cost of rebuilding, making every little bit of support help so very much.
The outpouring of love and support Ballard and the greater Seattle community have shown La Isla, Super Cuts, Kitchen N Things, Coleman Jewlers, and Pho Big Bowl have been both staggering and warming and we offer our heart-felt thanks for all of your support during this time.
