Building Men In Uganda
10 years ago I traveled to a small rural village in Uganda...and I have been back every year since to help Build Men.
And over the past 10 years you and my other friends and colleagues have helped me.
God's Inexhaustible Love
I work with teenagers in the vocational school at an orphanage. Ten years ago there were just 15 boys and me. This year there will be 40 boys and 65 girls in the school along with alumni who come back to visit me. We have really made a difference over the past 10 years! The school has grown by leaps and bounds but my mission stays the same--to let them know that they are loved.
You Know My Name?
A few years ago I arrived at the school and greeted one of the boys I knew by giving him a hug, smiling and saying "Hi Lawrence!" A strange look passed over his face and he said, "You know my name?" What could be more important to an orphan than knowing that someone knows his name. And that someone loves him.
Purpose
I did not know it would happen but my work with the orphans has given me purpose in life. Helping to build the school and to raise the money to hire teachers and educate students has become a passion of mine. While I have enjoyed building a successful real estate law firm, nothing fills me with as much joy as watching these boys become men (and now girls become women). The orphanage and the orphans don't have the money to pay for school but I have made it my mission to keep this school going and growing. Every year I help pay their expenses. And every other year I ask you to help.
As I get ready for my 10th visit to the orphanage, I want to 10X my impact by going out on a limb and stretching my giving. I want to change more lives. I want to build more men.
In celebration of my 10th year I hope you will consider 10Xing your giving. Dream big. You are making a huge impact! Thank you!
I hope you will join me.
