Hello everyone! My name is Laila. I’m a sophomore attending KIPP NYC College Prep. I’ve been accepted to CIEE’s Summer Study Abroad program, which will allow me to spend time immersing myself in the city of Seoul, South Korea. CIEE is a non-profit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization. They foster mutual respect between different nations and communities by exchanging ideas and experiences. Through this, many teachers and students like me can become more responsible citizens.

Last summer, I spent most of my time independently learning the Korean language. After discovering this program, I realized that actually being allowed to immerse myself in Korean culture will help me improve my ability to speak the language, understand their culture and way of living, and academics, giving me an on-hand experience that’ll shape my future.

Although I am confirmed to go, there are still some funds that I need to cover. Your donations will help me cover tuition, flights, and daily expenses while I study in Seoul. My goal is to raise $1000 by April 15th, 2025. So any amount, big or small, will help bring me one step closer to this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
