Hello/Aloha,
Like many of you, we are devastated by the fires in Maui. The island holds a special place in our family's hearts. We were welcomed and blessed to be able to call Lahaina home where we built lifelong connections with those on island. Paul lived there for nearly 10 years until I dragged him to Brooklyn 7 months pregnant.
Paul and I are raising funds for our ohana who have lost their homes due to the fires. These are people dear to us who are managing shock while simultaneously trying to create stability for their family. They may have lost their homes, but they haven't lost their spirit to rebuild.
Any contribution will have an impact. There is an overwhelming need to get funds immediately to those affected while they wait patiently for aid and relief. We will disperse the donations to those below. Please continue to send your thoughts to Maui at large. They will need our ongoing support to rebuild.
Lahaina strong. Aloha. Maui no ka oi.

Who we are fundraising for:
Gordans - Sule, Adi and their three incredible daughters Irie, Shyne and Yahlee. Paul lived with the Gordons, and when Covid first struck NYC, they welcomed me with open arms because any loved one of Paul's is family.
Cesters - Kiani is born and raised Maui. She met Davide in Italy, and their son Guiseppe has just started preschool.
DiBaris - Qiana, Michele and Giada have made Maui home for over 10 years. They've been a fixture in the community since opening their beloved restaurant, Sale Pepe, which was also lost in the fires. Paul was one of Sale Pepe's first hires and worked alongside the DiBaris until he left for Brooklyn. They kept me overly fed throughout my pregnancy.
Vasquezes - Jojo and Eliza have called Maui home for nearly 20 years. They have two incredible kids, Josie and Jonas. Josie is just about to start her first year of college. They opened their restaurant Fond in 2019. Despite losing their home, they united with other chefs on island and immediately started cooking food for the community out of their restaurant.
Hana Hou Hospitality - This is a fundraiser for all displaced employees of Māla Ocean Tavern, Down The Hatch, Duckine, Breakwall Shave Ice Co., and Pizza Paradiso. They are building 8 tiny homes on private land and will be providing funds for immediate needs (generators, gasoline, compost toilets, food, etc.) to their staff. Our friend Ashley (who is a part-owner of Mala Tavern) is helping with the fundraiser. She's no stranger to community organizing and giving back. She has spearheaded multiple volunteer clean-ups at nearby Honolua Bay over the years.
