Aloha, we are Ed & Michaelle Cheney and this is our story...

New update 11.11.23 see in updates.

9.14.23
Please pray for our babies on the cover photo. Rosie and Jessie Girl. On 9.14.23 we learned that both of our girls have cancer. Rosie is stage 4. We are beyond words. They are our world! The vet said there is no treatment for Rosie and for Jessie he suggests 3 surgeries. We cannot comprehend at the moment. We ask for your prayers!

8.9.23
We first want to say we are so grateful to be alive and thank God for keeping us safe! We are grateful that Ed escaped from the gridlock of cars trapped on Front Street as the fire was approaching.

We lost our home, workshop, supplies, several vehicles, our gardens of beautiful Mango and Papaya trees and everything we owned in the Lahaina, Maui fire on August 8, 2023.

We were able to save most of our animals. 3 dogs and 30 chickens. We still have no word of our cat. He was a rascal and we could not catch him. We crated up the 30 chickens and put them in the back of our truck with the dogs in the front. Grabbed a handful of clothing and left our home. Leaving so many precious family things that we did not have time to take.

Ed is a self-employed “HandyMan” & “Maintenance” person. He has been on the island for 40 years helping to repair and maintain the homes of the community and working 7 days a week. Michaelle has been on the island for over 35 years. She works with several elderly caring for their homes, along with managing multiple homes for off-island homeowners prepping and tending to their and or their guest's needs.

Any monies donated will go to helping us rebuild our home and the community as well as replacing Ed’s tools and business supplies. This will enable us to get back to work helping others and working with the community. Funds will also be used for the loving animals we saved, for clothing, food and basic needs.

We took very little with us as our main concern was getting the animals out of harm's way. We slept in our truck for 5 days until we were allowed to travel freely.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our story and any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Please share our story with others and your friends.
