We are reaching out to help our many friends suffering from the devastation of the wildfires in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. As an airline Captain for Delta Air Lines (now retired), I flew almost exclusively to the island of Maui over the last 10 years of my career and have continued to frequent the island since retiring. My wife and I were staying in Lahaina when the recent devastating fires destroyed the town. The cover picture for this gofundme page states things better than I ever could (The purple dots are structures that have been destroyed). Words cannot describe what the locals are going through. Our friends work in restaurants, bars, hotels, fishing, and snorkel boats etc. Most of them lost their jobs, and many of them lost their homes as well, and those that didn’t have relatives that have lost theirs. I can travel to Maui with my benefits, and I have the contacts and friends, that will be able to get the funds to Lahaina where the people that need it the most are located. Any funds that are not distributed will be donated to a charitable agency that is assisting with the Lahaina disaster.
