Lahaina Fire Relief Fund for Local Hero
Donation protected
UPDATE 8/21/23 Thank you to everyone who has so generously donated to Randy. I'm Christian's mother, Kathy Berry - Christian asked me to set up this fund for his dad because their internet was not working. Currently, the FEMA process is very slow and it has been the kindness of people like you who are the ones helping those in critical need in Maui. Because Randy spent 3 days breathing in ash and smoke in the Lahaina fire he needs some medical equipment that will help his lungs. This fund is going to help get him some of the medical attention he needs.
This is the message Christian wanted to share with everyone:
Aloha, my name is Christian and I am raising funds for my Dad and local hero Randy Courtemanche (aka 'Spider'). We both survived the fire on August 8th that has forever changed our lives and those in our community. My Dad risked his life to stay behind and fight the fire in Lahaina Surf Apartments when everyone else left. He saved 40 apartment units ( 2 buildings) with garden hoses. Through his faith in God, he witnessed several miracles that day, and I want to share his story with the world. Surrounded by walls of fire on all sides he stayed and watered each unit till 2 a.m. until he ran out of water- asking the Lord to save him and the building he witnessed a miracle as the winds shifted direction away from our apartment. None of the embers in the scorching winds would touch his body or the roof of our building! Many other units were burned to the ground but ours was spared. Even though the buildings were saved, we just learned that they will be demolishing our home because of the damage from smoke and heat. My Dad has been disabled for many years after several back and neck surgeries and has to start all over again. I have always looked after him and now I want to see that he is okay after the sacrifice he has made. Please help me help my Dad with living expenses and medical needs and transportation. His heart is to help as many people as possible with the funds that are raised- there are so many here on the West Side of Maui who need help. Mahalo and God Bless
