Rebuilding Ben, Alison & Nova's Life in Lahaina

Donation protected
As many of you know, the horrifying fires of Lahaina tore through a beloved town. After just a few days, we have realized this special area means so much to so many; memories, vacations, engagements, honeymoons… it is a cherished destination. What helps make this place so special to us all are the people who live there and make it not just a beautiful place to visit, but a place remembered forever. What I have seen is an outpouring of support, sadness and an urgent desire to help.

Today, with a heavy heart and hopeful opportunity, I am asking on behalf of my family to support that community. My brother, Ben, and family, Alison and Nova have been living in Lahaina for almost two decades. They and their community, their ohana (family), are the soul of Lahaina. Their community makes every day special when we all visit and have been the hosts to many of my family, friends and colleagues when they visit.

This week, they lost their home, just one of many. This ask is not just for them. When I told my brother about all our friends who want to give support, he responded with this, “We are safe, we have our family and are making things work. The support is needed and not for us, we need it for those who have helped us”.

Ben and Alison are selfless and won’t ask anyone for anything except to help them rebuild their community and ohana in Lahaina. What I will tell you, that he won’t, is that they lost their home and everything they own and built together. They were able to escape with a car of 4, making sure his daughter had her 3 favorite “stuffies”… Instead of saving their clothes, or computer, or anything else, they spent what little time they had saving their neighbors’ cats and Alison’s sister’s car.

They need help, and if you are inclined to support them, your help will not just support his family. These donations will also directly support those in need; those that can’t wait for the bureaucracy to kick in. That is his promise. There are many ways to give. This way is one that will directly impact those who lived there and no longer have clothes, food or their homes.

We will continue to provide updates as this is just one way to give, but it will not be the only way. Thank you all for taking the time and for anything you can do.
