Lagertha the littlest Warrior

UPDATE--Unfortunately, Lagertha lost her battle early morning on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She was surrounded by family and went peacefully. We take comfort in knowing that the first time she opened her eyes, she would be looking in the face of Jesus. We were so blessed to have her for the 2 weeks she was here and we will forever have a missing piece in our hearts. We will keep this fund open to cover any further expenses that may arise for Jordan and Jason. We thank everyone for your support thus far and wish blessings on everyone.

On Monday, 3/6/2023, in the wee hours of the morning, our first granddaughter, Lagertha Olivia Lantz, was born at just 22 weeks, 5 days. She weighed 14.8oz and about 7 or 8 inches long. They weren't able to get a length on her. With her early arrival, the most important thing was to get her breathing and stable. On Wednesday, 3/8, some of her blood work came back abnormal and they did a scan which showed a brain bleed which can be common for preemies like her due to her arteries and veins not being fully formed. They added some meds to help this. She was slowly making progress, moving like crazy, trying to breathe over the respirator, 'chewing' on her breathing tube and even grabbing it on occasion. At a week old, she had her assessment and she weighed in at 11oz which was more than they expected her to weigh. Her blood work was much improved and a new scan showed no new bleeds. She was taken off a couple of the IV meds that she was on as she was stabilizing. That evening, they found a new problem and had to do emergency surgery which did not have a great success percentage. They proceeded with the surgery, trying to give her the best chance of survival. She made it thru the surgery fine and she is continuing to improve every day. She is showing how much of a warrior she is and is renewing our faith in God's power and of mankind itself. The overwhelming support we have seen thus far has been so humbling. With not knowing how long she will be at Children's Hospital in Morgantown, we still don't know what kind of expenses we are looking at. Jordan and Jason had been driving back and forth from our house until this last setback and are wanting to stay as close as possible until she is a few more weeks old at least. We have family helping with lodging to a certain extent and the resource center at the hospital has been fantastic but there are still financial needs that need to be dealt with. We also don't know how long Jordan will need to be off work while they are in Morgantown. We are asking for any help you are able to give and will be having fund raisers and at least one benefit to help defer any costs that may come up. We are also asking for this little family to be kept in your thoughts, prayers, prayer chains, or anything else that you can think of. Thank you in advance for anything you are able to do.
