Dear fans and friends of La Gattara Cat Lounge in Tempe! The year 2020 has presented everyone its share of challenges... but, along with that, we've also been faced with some amazing opportunities! And we couldn't have gotten here without your love, support and help. As you already know, our lease ended in April this year. Faced, as everyone was, with the prospect of an uncertain world following the quarantines... we made the decision to temporarily close our doors, and begin our search for a new location. Something that still allows us to offer kitty time with our patrons, and still allows us to hold our special events like Drag Queen Bingo, Caturday Yoga, and Comedy With Cats. But also, something MORE. First of all... leaving Tempe was never an option. The City of Tempe municipal partners, as well as the citizens of Tempe, have each been our biggest fans since we opened in 2017. So we narrowed our search to a handful of locations. Preferably places closer to the downtown Mill Avenue center of activity. You guys!!!! We found THE BEST new location. Located literally just 0.3 miles west of Mill Avenue on University & Wilson Street -- in the plaza currently occupied by Loving Hut -- is where I'm proud to say that La Gattara will reopen in WINTER 2020. And do you want to know what the best part is? The facility is BIGGER. That means more room for cats and cat adoptions. That means more room for yoga, movie night, and Drag Bingo. That means more opportunities to expand on services we've long since wanted to offer -- such as drinks, and snacks. That means more La Gattara for everyone. However -- we need your help with a few things. This space used to be the home of a bicycle and BMX store. It's a great size, and great shape, and has enough space for everything we would need... but we'll need to renovate it to account for our new, furry tenants. This includes putting up walls, and building out facilities for their care and well-being. This includes paint. This includes shelves, and cat highways so they can have high places to sit and perch. This includes retrofitting our existing La Gattara gateway to give them a safe space. Tables, chairs, comfortable surroundings... we have some, and we need more. And a million other things that we're still getting our arms around. We're asking for some help ahead of this launch, to get La Gattara back to where it needs to be -- expanding our reach into the downtown Tempe space. Together with your help, we believe that La Gattara can provide a new, larger safe-haven for feline care... and begin offering other services, such as feline behavior training and assistance. We're excited to get into this space and begin working with our professional team of helpers to develop what will be our new home for years to come.
