Lagasse Maschmann House Fire
Donation protected
On March 8, Kala Lagasse's house unexpectedly caught on fire. She was living there with her husband Trent, and her father Gregg Maschmann, along with her 2 dogs and cat. Everyone made it out safely, but much of the home has been completely destroyed.
Kala had to move back in to her childhood home back in 2018 when her mother unexpectedly passed away, so she could take care of her father who is a disabled veteran. The family is already paying off heavy medical debts for her mother and father's hospital bills, and this unexpected tragedy was just simply not in the budget.
Not to mention, she also pays $250 a month for her dogs medications due to her having frequent seizures.
Insurance will cover some of the costs, but of course there is still a lot of out of pocket expenses that they cannot currently afford.
After losing many valuables and sentimental items (including photos of her mother), worrying about money is not another stress she needs in her life.
As a child Kala has always been the caretaker for her mother who was paralyzed from the waste down due to her Multiple Sclerosis, and for her father who had to have multiple back and knee surgeries, has Type 1 Diabetes, A-Fib, and also COPD.
All she's done her whole life is take care of other people (and pets), and I just really hope we can all get together to return the favor, and finally take care of Kala and her family.
Right now, they need to focus on healing after yet again, another traumatizing event in their life.
I've known Kala and her family for almost 20 years now, and can honestly say her, her husband, and her father all kind humble people who just wake up and appreciate all of the simplicities every day life has to offer. None of them would hesitate to give you the shirt off their backs, or the shoes off their feet.
Anything that can be donated is so extremely appreciated!
Thank You So Much!
