The world saw the massive fire on Saturday night in Downtown Los Angeles where it took 230 LAFD Firefighters to extinguish a huge commercial fire and explosion in less than two hours.11 fire fighters were injured, one of them being my little brother. Fortunately, as of right now it appears that all of our Firefighters will survive this fire.
Unfortunately, some are in critical condition, as they all face a long and grueling road ahead filled with multiple surgeries, recovery at the Grossman Burn Center, and lifelong injuries— some of which may prevent them from returning to the profession that they love, caring for the people of Los Angeles along with emotional recovery. (Update as of 05/23/2020): One of Station 9's men is still in the ICU and in critical condition, 5 of their men are still in the hospital, but have just been tranferred to a top rated burn unit, 3 went into surgery yesterday morning. As of right now 6 out of the 11 fighters are still hospitlized and have a long road ahead.
For those who feel inclined to support these Firefighters— all of whom worked at Fire Station 9 in Skid Row, in some of the toughest conditions imaginable for any Firefighter in America. Please take a moment to donate and make a contribution that will go directly to the "Recovery Gifts" which will go to the Firefighters and all off Station 9 Skid Row.
