from our founder: 

for a while, i found myself fatigued, because i knew i had the power & the passion to help people out of ruts, but i didn't have the confidence to build an organization from which i could share mi gifts.  

laelia is the response to that realization. in the future, laelia will be a representation of what we can build together from our prioritization of creativity in evryday life. 

i’ve grown up in a city where the youth is talented beyond belief, but oftentimes they’re too focused on survival to create. the parents of these children, especially if they themselves are youthful, also find themselves uninspired at times. many of them are focused solely on the short-term. this cyclical disadvantage has the potential to keep Black & brown Chicagoans from our birthright to abundance. 

we deserve for our dreams to come true, regardless of what neighborhood or financial background we come from. in order to work through creative blocks & feel impassioned about life, i believe Black & brown people need community care. when we encourage ourselves & each other to solve conflicts creatively, we can, together, visualize a city we would like to live in. 

through laelia’s botanica, i offer individualized wellness services, such as tarot & conflict mediation. mi services are free to parents under 25 & can be sliding scale upon request. i also accept bartering as a form of payment.
