Rescue Beagle's 2nd Chance at Life

Ruby is a four-year-old beagle who lives with her family in New Jersey. She has a puppy-brother named Chip, and three human siblings who all adore her. She is known around our house as “The Little Princess.” Ruby had a difficult beginning; she was used for testing purposes in a lab, and was kept in a crate for the majority of her first year of life. When the lab was finished with her, she was rescued by an amazing volunteer organization called The Beagle Rescue League where she lived with a foster family who trained her how to “be a dog.” In March of 2012, my family had the privileged of finding the Beagle Rescue League and meeting Ruby. After only a few moments after meeting her and watching her bounce around in the backyard of her foster home, she stole our hearts.
Ruby quickly adapted to the routines of our home with help from her big brother Chip. She can be found lying in the sun, playing with her toys, or snuggling with her family. She loves being held and cuddled and wags her tail at the sound of a familiar voice. She dances and sings when she knows it is time for dinner, or she is getting a treat! She brings so much joy and happiness into our lives, and always provides us with a good laugh and a funny story.
This past week Ruby was diagnosed with a herniated/extruded disc in her cervical spine (neck). A piece of the disc material is pressing on her spinal cord. If left untreated, this could cause her to become paralyzed. Ruby now needs surgery to remove the disc material and relieve the pressure from her spine. With immediate care, she can fully recover. Unfortunately, this procedure costs $7,500, which my family does not currently have, and the only other option is to put her down. Please help us take care of our Little Princess. Any donation is greatly appreciated, and will help ease the monetary strain on my family.
