Lady's Lightning Fire Fundraiser
Donation protected
What started as a nice sunny day ended up with lightning then fire and a house of damages.
Thursday June 2, 2022 late afternoon lightning stuck our roof and lit the attic on fire. Gracefully, the lightning stuck just barely a foot away from my 12 year old daughter.
The roof took off in flames before the fire department could get their ladders up. Continued thunder and lightning kept the fire fighters from staying on the ladder unfortunately allowing the flames to get worse.
Thankfully, they were successful to get the fire out. When we were finally able to enter the house it was an extremely emotional moment for our family particularly my daughter whose entire room was covered in rainy water and pieces of ceiling and debri from the roof being cut open.
Once the restoration company came in the next morning it was determined that the entire house would be gutted for smoke and water damage. Being that our lease was to end by Aug 1st, the only option was to vacate immediately. My children's rooms took the brunt of it all. My daughters entire bedroom set was destroyed broke down and put in a dumpster with the rest of the roofing and carpets.
Relieved from our lease but still left with nowhere to move into immediately. My son graduates this week and everything is in disarray. With no immediate funds for housing, food, clothing, gas and back bills it's all becoming increasingly unreasonable to tackle all of it at once alone. Sleeplessness and hopelessness bring an extreme inability to focus. Thunderstorms are triggering and It's clear we are all traumatized. We have never experienced nor met anyone who had their home hit by lightning. No one so far.
All donations would go to find sufficient immediate housing, toiletries and home needs. Rental funds for space for what was salvageable. Ultimately we starting from square one should we find a place. Groceries, clothing for my family if only a dress for my daughter and I for the graduation. Essentials that you don't know you need until you have everything struck away.
One in a million they say. Wow.
My family and I are grateful for ANY help, guidance and assistance.
Thank you for any support, donations and well wishes.
Please keep us in your prayers.
Thank you.
