Lady Lilibet’s Fight — Please Help Us Cover Surgery Costs

Hi, my name is Kim. I’m not part of any rescue group, council, or government organisation. I’m just one person who refuses to turn a blind eye to suffering. I’m a mum, a wife, a student, an employee — and in between all of that, I rescue street cats who have no one else.

That’s how I met Lady Lilibet. She was dumped along the railway line near my house with two tiny kittens. They were shy but not feral — clearly abandoned and left to fend for themselves. I knew I had to help them. But rescue is never easy. It means scraping together money for vet bills, begging for fosters, losing sleep, and carrying the weight alone — unpaid, exhausted, but determined.

The day I was planning to bring the kittens to safety, I couldn’t find them. My heart sank. Then I saw one of their little bodies on the road. She had been hit by a car. I stopped traffic, tears streaming, and carried her warm lifeless body off the street. With a heavy heart, I buried her in my yard. That night, I swore I would save Lilibet and her surviving kitten. And I did.

Months later, Lilibet developed a large lump on her shoulder. I thought it would be a small surgery. It wasn’t. The lump was huge and difficult to remove, leaving her with a long, painful scar. It now needs to be biopsied to see if it’s harmless or life-threatening.

The surgery and biopsy cost $1,026.28. For me, that’s impossible to cover alone. I do all of this rescue work with no funding, no backing — just heart.
