My sister LaDonna was diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer in 2015. She has underwent numerous surgeries including a double mastectomy and complete hysterectomy. LaDonna is currently doing maintenance chemotherapy every 3 weeks at Trinity Cancer Center along with Lynparza, a non-chemotherapy oral medication. 

LaDonna has not been working for the past year due to her illness. Her and her husband Chuck have been forced to get COBRA insurance.  With hefty monthly premiums and out-of-pocket expenses, medical bills are mounting. Their insurance company is refusing to pay for her prescription Lynparza ($3,000/week) which she desperately needs. Though her treatments are not a cure, they will prolong her life. 

LaDonna has dedicated her young life to helping people of all ages. After receiving her Master's in Social Work, she became part of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, a foster parent, and respite home caregiver. LaDonna has also worked with Hospice patients. She volunteers whenever she can and is always willing to help those who are less fortunate.
