Lacy's Medical Fund for Radiation
Donation protected
First and foremost, my name is Lacy Buckingham. I am a young (soon to be) 25 year old who was recently diagnosed with 2 very rare tumors in the backside of my skull. These tumors [Glomus Jugulare Tumors] are benign and not believed to be cancerous. Since this diagnoses I have be unable to attend my daily job. The tumors are located throughout some nerves which have caused some side effects that make it too difficult for some daily functions. As a driven young woman who has such high ambitions for herself, being in this situation has been extremely rough on me. I miss spending time with friends, being with co workers, my job, and all around normality that has since disappeared from my life. I have stayed as positive as possible on this journey, but I am ready to end it. As we all know medical costs are hard for anyone, and they add up so quickly. Most things have been covered by my insurance but there is one thing that I need in order to get through my treatments and recovery. In the next few weeks to a month I will be starting radiation therapy, to receive my treatments I will be living in downtown boston directly across from Massachusetts General Hospital where I will be getting the radiation therapy, and my treatments will be Monday-Friday for 5 weeks. In order for me to be comfortable during my treatments in will being staying in a facility called Christopher's Haven [www.christophershaven.org] that helps patients and their families that are getting treatment. It is essentially a home away from home, the apartments are designed to be as comfortable, and home-like for patients and familys going through treatments. However, this facility is not free, and this is what my insurance will not cover. I will have to pay the cost of my stay, as well as feeding myself. I wish I was in a spot in my life where I could take care of this on my own, but being out of work has put me behind on every bill possible and I simply cannot afford this on my own. What I am asking is if any of my family, friends and even strangers are willing to lend a helping hand to me in this dire time of need. I am ready to be healthy, I am ready to get back to my normal life, and I'm ready to be happy. That is what's most important to me, being able to beat this, make it through my recovery, and to be happy. I could never explain how thankful I would be to anyone out there who is willing to hear my story and help me on this journey. If you are able to donate towards my cause, just know that any amount will help me along. Thank you to everyone, I will beat this!
