Lactating women on campus are in need of convenient, comfortable, secure, and readily available lactation spaces.  However, at the University of Minnesota, there are a total of 19 lactation rooms total and only 2 on the Saint Paul campus.

We are a group of Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Minnesota, and this is our senior design project, initiated by the Student Parent HELP Center and the Lactation Advocacy Committee. The goal of the Lactation Pod (or "LacPod") project is to produce the first full-size, mobile lactation pod that will be implemented at the University of Minnesota to accommodate our pumping students, faculty members, and guests by May 2016.  We want to demonstrate its usefulness to gain momentum toward the future production of more pods to help Mommies everywhere!
