Lacie Pederson’s Heart Journey

Hello, our names are Chelsey Nordine and Renee Luedke. We are creating this fundraiser on behalf of our friends, Kelly & Zach Pederson.

 

Kelly and Zach grew up in Princeton, MN and currently live in Milaca, MN with their sweet, sassy, and outgoing 18 month old Sadie. It has been a long journey for them to parenthood - They struggled with infertility which led them to IVF. After having Sadie, they went through two miscarriages to get their sweet Lacie Rose Pederson. She was born at 36 weeks + 4 days on 11/24/21. She is truly a miracle baby!

 

Right now, Lacie needs our help. She was diagnosed (while still in utero) with a right side ventricular issue with her heart. Lacie has Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome with Pulmonary Atresia and Tricuspid Hypoplasia. Now that she’s here, the Doctors have confirmed this is the case but they have also added a diagnosis of coronary sinusoids. She is getting a cath procedure when she weighs about 2.5 kg/5.5 lbs to determine if she is eligible for 3 series of open heart surgeries or if she will need an immediate heart transplant. 

Lacie is currently in the CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She is 4 lbs 8oz, and her doctors would like her to be about 5 1/2 pounds before they attempt any surgery. Lacie is so beautiful and looking a lot like her big sister Sadie! She is being fed Kelly’s milk through an NG tube which goes into her nose down to her belly. At this time Lacie has been doing great but is having apnea spells, which means she stops breathing for a short period of time. As you can imagine, this has all been very scary and overwhelming for Lacie’s family.
