Laceys Road to Remission

Donation protected
Our dear friend Lacey Burtz was diagnosed with a few serious infections shortly after arriving to one of her oversea locations on a mission trip in 2016.  She was sent out on an open-ended mission where she was partnering with various orphanages, villages, and children’s homes. She was very ill for a couple of months and went misdiagnosed for at least 2 months prior to the cause of illness being identified throughout her clinic visits. Thankful to have been able to begin treatment while in country, she soon began to regain a level of health and strength to carry on with her commitment there.  A few months had passed after returning to the states after her 2nd trip when she intuitively knew something was seriously wrong and off.  After a few more months passed of managing symptoms and keeping some at bay the best she could, the pain and symptoms became unbearable and began to take over from head to toe. She became severely ill again in the worst pain she had experienced yet, taking a turn for the worst landing in the hospital in Summer of 2018.  After several months of testing, scans and visits to various clinics, returns to the ER in August 2018 and working with others around the globe who had credibility in this area, she was introduced to a wellness center in southern California who was quickly able to diagnose these various ailments and symptoms as Lyme on a CDC level and a few of its co-infections, including parasite infections and its effects, which had never been cleared from diagnosis overseas.

After about 10 months of ongoing detox, treatments, and therapies, Lacey has made some fundamental strides in her health through nutrition and lifestyle practices, that has added leverage in the process considering her  diagnosis.  However, unfortunately at the time treatment began and a diagnosis was established, she was already in a more chronic state, requiring more intense methods of care. Though the current center she works with has been able aid in reducing extreme pain, inflammation and restoring a significant level of balance, she is at the place in her healing journey and diagnosis that she continues on the road of adverse challenges, immense pain, and daily discomfort. She is currently seeking care at one of the world’s top chronic illness and Lyme disease clinics to get advanced treatment and further specialized testing with the goal of thorough treatment, leading to remission. Lyme and its co-infections are conditions which are very tough to kill off, let alone diagnose.  Over 40% of cases are misdiagnosed. This is especially challenging with the limited testing that is available and lack of awareness around the disease. The infections are elusive and very smart. There can be a number of biological processes that occur when these bacteria are present, all which can be debilitating, wreak havoc in the body and contribute to a collateral effect of other symptoms leaving one in an ongoing state of discomfort with a consistent roller coaster of flare ups.

To make matters more challenging, not only has Lacey not been able to return to her desired partnerships overseas, she had to leave her job.  She tried to maintain her former job on and off over the past 2 years but could not due to sudden onset of debilitating symptoms.  She was forced to put a hold on her now current full body wellness and nutrition coaching practice to invest in implementing the daily care protocols for herself and attend weekly appointments. Our home church is hoping to raise support for her treatment at the institute she has been qualified and accepted into. There will be ongoing treatment, with a primary focus and urgency on this upcoming stay for 2-3 weeks of aggressive treatment and intensives with their team of experts every day. Most Lyme treatments and testing is not covered by any insurance. Taking treatment to this level, while statistically very effective, the cost will be around $20,000 including tests to complete prior, travel + proper lodging in proximity to the institute. This has been a huge financial investment and a burden we are hoping we can help share to get her the care necessary and enable her to focus on navigating all that comes with the healing processes. If you feel led and moved to contribute to her healing journey, whether for this trip or the process of treatment she will be continuing with from home following her stay, your contribution and donation will help make this possible and is immensely appreciated.  We believe this treatment will offer exactly what she needs in order to regain her health and her life.  Thank you for sharing in this mission with hopes of helping see Lacey through to healing once and for all.  We would also like to assure you that Lacey has been undergoing treatment and contacts numerous specialists on a weekly basis and will be integrating with the institute she has been accepted into. We would like to ask if you could please be sensitive and considerate by refraining from further recommendations and suggestions to other doctors or various treatment modalities. At the time, she is covered and set on that end. Thank you all so much!
