Help Lacey stay comfortable in her golden years
Donation protected
As many of you know, our dearest Lacey has been having a rough go lately. She made it through a few colics, but then had a very scary day where she was stumbling and could barely walk. After testing at the OSU vet clinic, they found that she has osteoarthritis along the spine in her neck that is affecting her balance and the way she walks. She is now on a long term pain management plan that seems to be keeping her comfortable.
If there's anything we know about Lacey, it's that she's tough, she has a big heart, and she will not give in before its her time! She seems happy and content to be slowing way down, and is getting used to our new routine. She can't be ridden or exercised any more, but seems happy just standing around, eating lots of grass, and getting plenty of grooming and love!
I have had Lacey since I was just a kid, and I love her more than anything. So this has been a hard transition as she ages and gets closer to crossing the rainbow bridge. But knowing that she has brought so much joy and love to so many kids makes it a little easier. I get teary eyed thinking about how things have come full circle. She taught me how to ride and love horses while I was growing up, and now she has been an integral part in the lesson program doing the same for all of my students over the years.
I so appreciate any donations, as her outstanding vet bills and new care costs have become a bit overwhelming. But whether you are able to donate or not, Lacey and I can feel your love and we know how much you care about us. I am deeply grateful for you all, and I can't thank you enough for the warmth and love that I feel during this difficult time. Here's to Lacey, our lesson horse extraordinaire!
