Hurricane Laura struck Louisiana as one of the most powerful storms in U.S. history, leaving widespread destruction across the state. The storm tore apart homes & businesses, including several Public Defender offices, private practice offices, and courthouses. Our friends in Southwest & West Louisiana are need of our help to rebuild in order to get back to serving the important needs of the criminal justice system. By contributing to this Relief Fund, you will be supporting criminal defense lawyers impacted by this historical hurricane.
Help impacted lawyers so they can take care of their clients, who are also dealing with immense devastation.
The Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (LACDL) is the only professional association of counsel devoted exclusively to the profession of Criminal Defense in Louisiana. Our mission is to promote a fair, accurate and humane criminal justice system through education, advocacy and the development of effective and professional defense lawyers. LACDL is based in Baton Rouge but serves members throughout the state. We are raising funds for LACDL members in need.
We are still assessing the needs of our members and will update you on exactly where your funds will go. For now, know that we are working to support those who have lost their office and/or home, who will not have access to electricity or water for weeks, and who have clients in need of assistance.
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please contact the LACDL office at (225) 767-7640 or [email redacted].
