Labhaoise had a very serious accident earlier this year whereby she broke her leg. With multiple surgeries, Physio appointments, two kids and the fact that she cannot return to work we ask you donate anything towards helping her out this Christmas

“So, Just for anyone that’s interested in reading about my accident, here it goes… So back at the start of Aug I decided it would be a good idea to go down a ramp on a skateboard after a gentle nudge from the kids calling me a chicken! Two things I proved that day, 1. I’m not a Chicken 2. I’m just an idiot so, as one would have guessed it I was never going to stay on the skateboard and came off it at a rate of knots breaking my ankle both sides, breaking my tibia, fibula and talus while also dislocating my foot. Just when you think things couldn’t get much worse there was no ambulances available so I had to lay on the cold floor for over two hours, when one finally came from Roscommon! Arriving in A&E, hours later, they put my foot back in line and because it had been so long since I fell the blood supply to the limb wasn’t great. I was told I need surgery straight away and the surgeon came down and told me the procedure. By this time they had a cast on me and I was complaining about it being very tight I was just told it was due to swelling and it was normal. Two days later, a lot of tears and a whole lot of begging for pain relief over the cast being to tight in A&E and being told that it was ‘normal’ to be in the pain I was in, I was given a bed in the Orthopaedic ward and a lovely nurse looked at the cast and said that’s to tight and cut it down the middle. Ohhh the relief straight away. In the morning I was being brought down for surgery and I could finally start on the road to recovery (wishful thinking) I was brought down bright and early and knocked out. when I woke, all groggy, a new shiney pink cast was on my leg. The surgeon came in and told me he couldn’t do the Surgery on my leg because I had developed fracture blisters ‍♀️ after a ten day stay in hospital, finally, I got the surgery. I woke up after and the pain straight away was like nothing I had ever felt! Nothing was touching the pain. Even after the boot came off it was horrendous. I had nerve damage done and I have now been told I have CRPS, a very rare chronic nerve condition. 5 months later, I am still relying on crutches to get around my mobility is very poor and doctors are still trying to control pain. I can’t walk very far even with crutches because of pain and I have very limited mobility. Just putting my foot on the floor causes extreme pain. While also staring down the road of more surgery in 9mths time. The fear of having to go through this again is real . @galwaycitygym where I work, together with some members, have put their heads together and decided they would start a fundraiser to help support me in my rehab and hopefully get me back up on my feet ❤️ The level of support and love I have received is honestly overwhelming. My world has been turned upside down overnight but if one good thing comes from all of this it is that I am surrounded by some of the best and supportive people ❤️“
