I’m writing this message on behalf of my mother, who has suddenly found herself in a very serious and urgent situation. From the bottom of our hearts and on behalf of our entire family, I’ve decided to set up this crowdfunding campaign to support her in her fight.

My dear mother Kim is 68 years old. She has worked incredibly hard her entire life day in and day out as a chef in a restaurant to take care of me. When my father left us for another woman and we suddenly had to face life on our own, my mother carried everything by herself. From the time I was six until I turned eighteen, she gave everything to provide me with a future. She never chose the easy way, only the right one, even when it was so much harder for her.

My mother is my inspiration: a strong, loving woman who is always there for others. She has a heart of gold and treats everyone like family. But now, she needs our support.

From a small lump to a life changing diagnosis

What started as what seemed like a small, harmless lump on her skin turned into a nightmare. After thorough medical examinations, it turned out not to be a simple skin condition but an aggressive form of skin cancer. To our great sorrow, it has already spread to her intestines, making the situation even more severe and complex.

She has already undergone 23 rounds of intense chemotherapy treatments that have left her body and mind completely exhausted. Despite this tremendous fight, the doctors have told her that her life expectancy is unfortunately only about two years.

However, there is still hope. In Switzerland, there’s a specialized treatment available stem cell therapy which offers her the best chance to fight this disease. Thankfully, there’s a spot for her there, but the treatment is extremely expensive: around €80,000 in total.

With this campaign, we are urgently asking for your support to make this life-saving treatment possible. Every contribution big or small brings her closer to the chance of more time, hope, and quality of life.

Ik schrijf dit bericht namens mijn moeder, die plotseling in een heel ernstige en acute situatie terecht is gekomen. Vanuit ons hart en namens de hele familie heb ik daarom besloten om een crowdfunding op te zetten, zodat we haar kunnen steunen in haar strijd.

Mijn lieve moeder Kim is 68 jaar. Haar hele leven heeft zij keihard gewerkt, dag in dag uit in een restaurant als chef, om voor mij te zorgen. Toen mijn vader ons verliet voor een andere vrouw en we er ineens alleen voor stonden, droeg mijn moeder alles alleen. Vanaf mijn zesde tot mijn achttiende jaar heeft zij alles gegeven om mij een toekomst te bieden. Ze koos nooit de makkelijke weg, maar altijd de juiste zelfs als dat voor haarzelf zwaarder was.

Mijn moeder is voor mij een bron van inspiratie: een krachtige, liefdevolle vrouw die altijd klaarstaat voor anderen. Ze heeft een hart van goud en behandelt iedereen alsof het familie is. Maar nu heeft zíj onze steun nodig.

Van een klein bultje naar een levensveranderende diagnose

Wat begon als een klein en onschuldig lijkend bultje op de huid, veranderde in een nachtmerrie. Na uitgebreid onderzoek bleek het niet zomaar een huidafwijking, maar een agressieve vorm van huidkanker. Tot ons grote verdriet is inmiddels gebleken dat de kanker uitgezaaid is naar de darmen, waardoor de situatie nog ernstiger en complexer is geworden.
