Laasya 2020
Donation protected
Laasya 2020, hosted by Natya at Berkeley and Laasya Board, is the oldest intercollegiate Indian classical dance competition and exhibition in the nation. This year we are proud to host Laasya on March 14, 2020 in the beautiful Marine's Memorial Theatre in San Francisco, CA! Eight teams from universities across the country will visit the San Francisco Bay Area to perform pieces they have choreographed and worked hard on all year, and compete for a spot in the Origins National Dance Championship.
We want to make this competition an amazing experience for both the dancers and audience members, so we need your help and support. We would appreciate your kind donation of any amount to help make our competition a success. Generous donations of $100 or more will receive two (2) free tickets to our show and your family name in our show program. All of the proceeds from the show will be donated to Project RISHI, an organization that promotes the sustainable development of rural Indian communities.
What is Project RISHI?
Project RISHI (Rural India Social & Health Improvement) is a 100% student run non-profit that works with a village in rural India to implement sustainable solutions that tackle a variety of issues voiced by the villagers. Our chapter at UC Berkeley works with a village called Bharog Baneri in Himachal Pradesh, India. This year, our initiatives include Women’s Empowerment, Health, Rainwater Harvesting, and Education. Project RISHI at UC Berkeley is excited to bring our passion for rural sustainable development to upcoming projects this summer. At RISHI, making a difference is rooted in learning about other communities and listening to them rather than imposing our own vision.
