La Soufriere Disaster Fund for Displaced Citizens
The volcano in St. Vincent & The Grenadines, La Soufriere, which had been quietly erupting since December, moved to the explosive eruption stage today. Over 20,000 citizens have been evacuated from the "red" danger zone, and are in shelters. Many Vincentians and friends of Vincentians are asking how we may help support our fellow citizens in these shelters. The need is great, and any and all amount donated would be sent directly to SVG to be used to purchase much needed items for families in the shelters: hygiene products, baby formula, diapers etc.
Funds will be sent to The Lions' Club South, who will work with the National Emergency Management Organization of St Vincent & The Grenadines, (NEMO) to identify the most urgent needs. The Lions Club will then ensure that your donations are used to purchase and distribute the supplies that are urgently needed.
Please give! Thank you!
