What a hard time to be a business owner.
The protests that have happened in response to George Floyd’s death, and at a larger scale, in response to the racial injustice so deeply ingrained in our nation, have added another roadblock to recovery for businesses in Los Angeles.
Many small businesses have been looted, set fire to, and vandalized. This fundraiser aims to assist Los Angeles business owners that have been directly affected by recent events.
We are in full support of the messages that the Black Lives Matter Movement advocates for. We agree that changes need to be made in our country. By running this fundraiser, we in no way mean to pull focus from BLM or the greater issues at hand. Rather, we run in parallel to BLM. Stores can be rebuilt and possessions replaced, but the lives taken cannot be brought back. It is thus equally, if not more important to continue supporting organizations who are on the frontlines and providing immediate help to BLM supporters.
All that said, independent businesses whose livelihoods have been used to represent our voices do not deserve to brunt the consequences of our actions on their own. Our community can step up to help them too.
We are actively working to get in contact with businesses in need of our support, through various forms of outreach including on-the-ground efforts, contact through social media, phone calls, emails, and websites, and calling on our communities to point us toward them.

Every time we allocate funds to a business in need, we will update you here on GoFundMe with receipts and confirmation from the storeowner.
