On October 18, 2019; hundreds of high school students in Santiago gathered to protest a transportation fare hike of $.30 cents. Within hours, thousands of students join in solidarity and take over a metro station. President Sebastian Piñera unleashes the military on student demonstrators resulting in brutal incidents of torture, rape and death. Within three days, two million Chileans staged nationwide protests in support of students. For everyday Chileans, the $.30 cents came to symbolize 30 years of a neoliberal economic model that has produced systemic inequity and poverty.
The film tells the story of the valiant people who immersed themselves in the revolution. Across the nation, a recorded ten million Chileans have taken to the streets to demand that a new constitution be instituted. The government buckled down to the pressure and agreed to hold o nationwide vote on October 25, 2020. Eighty percent of the country voted in favor of writing a new constitution, with everyday Chileans as the authors of this new social contract.

We are planning an exchange between Chilean and US-based frontline activists. The goal is to share knowledge and tactics that lead to structural change. An in-person exchange between the activists that have ignited change in Chile and the activists that are fueling the ongoing movement for Black Lives in North America. We want to use the finished film to build bridges that connect communities across the world!
