LA Fires: Help provide direct aid to families in Altadena
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tasmin and along with a group of preschool moms, we are fundraising for the displaced families of Altadena, many of whom have lost their house, their car and all their belongings from the devastating Eaton Fire. Along with the Palisades Fire, these two fires are among the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in California history.
Within days of the Eaton fire, this wonderful group of moms have been buying essential supplies and collecting donations from all over Los Angeles. From Culver City and Hollywood to Echo Park and Pasadena, we drove to Altadena daily, to donate directly to families who have had their lives turned upside down overnight. We have donated much needed bottled water (because local water is contaminated) food, diapers, baby wipes, formula, toiletries, hygiene products, laundry detergent, toilet paper, pet food, blankets, clothing and toys.
We chose an area as close to the evacuation zone as possible when we realized many of the citywide donation sites are not reaching the people who need it most. We started with doing daily donation drives at Hens Teeth Square, organized by Dym Pasadena, the local FCGS Force soccer team and EZ Halal grocery store, and then also supported displaced families through the Refuge Christian Center in Altadena. Together with our local partners, we have identified hundreds of families locally who need help with basic living supplies, and we have met many who come daily to collect supplies they need.
We’ve had a lot of success in getting these essentials delivered to families daily in just the last week, but now we need YOUR support to keep going! We want to continue aid beyond the initial rush of donations, because the most needed items are consumables like diapers and toilet paper, which will remain to be a need, long after the national attention has shifted. Can you please help us to continue? Your donations will mean we can buy more of what these families need day to day, to make sure they can get back on their feet as soon as possible.
Let’s help Los Angeles rebuild, in any small way we can. Thank you for not forgetting the families in Altadena.
