**ACTUALIZACION**

Tía tuvo su cirugía varios meses atrás y muy poco a poco se fue recuperando de sus heridas. Esto le permitió seguir disfrutando lo que mas le gusta: cantar. Lamentablemente a finales de julio y luego de sus exámenes de rutina, le dieron la noticia que su enfermedad había hecho metástasis. Tiene, por los momentos, dos tumores, uno en la zona pélvica/abdominal que tiene comprometido una arteria y otro en los pulmones. A mediados de agosto inició rápidamente la primera ronda de quimioterapia recomendada y estamos a la espera del presupuesto para la cirugía. Esta vez serán 3 cirujanos (oncólogo, cardiováscular y toráxico), por lo menos dos días en terapia intensiva y mucha, mucha recuperación. Acudimos a ustedes de nuevo porque el presupuesto parece imposible para alguien que reside en Venezuela. Porque quiero que sigamos disfrutando a tía, porque es justo que un ciudadano de cualquier país reciba tratamiento médico, porque la pelea es larga y requerimos aliento y apoyo.

Mi tía Leddy es alegría, es música, es canto, es ligereza, es solidaridad y es optimismo. Mi tía Leddy es también mi madrina y los que crecimos con ese regalo tuvimos una segunda mamá. Alguien que siempre estuvo presente, pendiente y dispuesta. Su cuerpo no le dió el regalo de tener hijos pero su corazón ha estado pleno con sobrinos, hijastros (y sus hijos) y primas y primos.

Mi tía tiene cáncer y además vive en Venezuela donde la salud se paga en dólares pero el ingreso, cuando lo hay, es en una moneda de mucho menos valor.

Mi tía, la Dama del Bolero, la que canta hermoso, la que siempre ríe, la que siempre ha abierto las puertas de su casa nos necesita.

Su diagnóstico es Sarcoma Indiferenciado de células fusiformes (en criollo, cáncer en los tejidos blandos). Requiere una operación por presentar dos tumoraciones en la parte pretibial de la pierna derecha y luego, requerirá Radioterapia.

El presupuesto de la clínica es de $2,090.00

Más pago a cirujanos $1,700.00

Mas Radioterapia (Clínica La Floresta, Caracas) $18,000.00

Total = $21,790.00

**UPDATE**

Tía Leddy had surgery several months ago and very slowly recovered from her injuries. This allowed her to continue enjoying what she loves most: singing. She also had the wonderful opportunity to come to the US to visit two of her nephews and was happy and pampered. Unfortunately, upon arriving in Venezuela at the end of July and after routine checkups, she received the news that her disease had spread. She currently has two tumors: one in her pelvic/abdominal area that has compromised an artery, and another in her lungs. In mid-August, she quickly began the first round of recommended chemotherapy, and we are awaiting the quote for the surgery. This time, there will be three surgeons (oncologist, cardiovascular, and thoracic), at least two days in intensive care, and a lot of recovery time. We are coming to you again because the budget seems impossible for someone living in Venezuela. Because I want us to continue enjoying her

like I did less than two months ago, because it's only right that a citizen of any country receive medical treatment, because the fight is long and we need encouragement and support.

My aunt Leddy is te embodiment of joy, music, sigging, lightness, solidarity, and optimism. As my godmother, she has been a second mother to those of us who grew up with her. Always present, attentive and willing, she has filled her heartwith the love of her nieces, nephews, stepchildren (and their children), and cousins, even though she could not have children on their own/

My aunt is now facing a tough battle with cancer. Living in Venezuela, sha faces the challenge of healthcare beign paid in US dollars while income, when there is any, is in a currencyof much less value.

Known as the Lady of Bolero, my aunt sings beautifully, laughs heartily, and has always opened the doors of her home to everyone. Now, she needs our help.

She has been diagnosed with Undifferentiated Spindle Cell Sarcoma (cancer in the soft tissues). She needs surgery to remove two tumors from her right leg, followed by radiotherapy.

The costs are as follows:
