La Buena Vida Hotel Employee Relief Fund
Many of our guests and friends have reached out to us asking how they can help and we are so thankful for that! Like many hospitality businesses we are in a moment unlike anything the industry has experienced before. For 10 years La Buena Vida has been providing breakfasts and accommodations to our guests and have never closed its doors until March, 15th when the Government of Ecuador announced that all businesses had to close in order to safeguard employees and citizens from COVID19.
Ecuador has been one of the most affected Latin American countries and the death tolls continue to rise. Our staff depends on tourism to feed their families and up to now all our reservations until July have been cancelled. Unlike many other countries Ecuador doesn’t provide unemployment insurance to citizens and even though our staff isn’t working we must continue paying them because, they deserve it and are counting us! Our staff is 100% local from Ayampe and almost all of them are women providing for their families so, we have decided not to lay anyone off because they have been very loyal to us and to our guests.
We know that the financial hardship being faced by our employees is overwhelming and this is why we are looking into many alternatives to help them out during this crisis.
With your help we will continue to pay for their health insurance and their salaries... any little bit will help until people can start traveling again.
Once all of this is done and over with and you decide to come visit us again we will make sure we will take good care of you as always.
