Warm greetings to all, my name is Andrea Jiménez Carrasquillo and I am a young emerging figurative sculptress from the Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico. In 2020, after losing my father to COVID 19, our final conversation led me to pursue a dream that will make my artistic abilities worthwhile. Having a long background of studying anatomy, anthropology, and somatic culture, I wish to explore the techniques of the classical masters. This is why I applied to the prestigious sculpture program at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, where I have been studying for the past year and a half. Here, I have been acquiring a precise yet whole skill set that will develop my career as a sculptress by being able to study the nature of the human body and develop my perception. This will fulfill my mission as an artist and help me transcribe the beauty of my Caribbean culture by showcasing sculptural figures that render narratives of resilience, empowerment, and transgenerational healing with the body.

I am reaching out for support because even though I have worked very hard to get here, I recognize that I cannot do it alone. I still have a year and a half of tuition costs, rent, charcoal, resin and TONS of clay to go. I will be sharing the objectives of my next projects and make public announcements to fund the materials needed. Any help will be deeply appreciated to keep the momentum.
