My Sister who is 33 years old has had type 1 diabetes since she was 2 years old. She has struggled to maintain her diabetes her whole life.
October 12th, 2014 Kristin was found unconsious in Wilson North Carolina at her home. She was convulsing and her blood glucose level was less than 20. She took an ambulance to the Wilson Hospital were she was stabilized. She was in a coma for over a week. Doctors wanted our family to pull the plug, but we refused. Wilson Hospital transported her to Vident in Green Ville, North Carolina. Family was told by doctors that she had brain damage and wouldn't live. However Kristin came out of the coma at Vident. She was than transferred to a rehab facility to the Kindred Hospital which is 400 miles away from her boyfriend and friends. My mother has flown out to see her 4 times. She has improved every time. Her diagnosis at the moment is acute metabolic encephalopathy. Her family lives by Duluth, MN. We believe that with family support she will fight to heal. She is alone with no family or friends. Our goal is to transport her closer to family. She is on a waiting list at Evergreene Terrace in Grand Rapids, MN. Insurance will not cover her transport fees. Please help bring Kristin home! Any amount will help. We would be forever grateful. Prayers are also welcome!
Sincerely,
Kristin's Sister Kacey, & her Mother Nancy.
