In Memory ...Pebbles My Love

Saving Pebbles Life
Hello. I am a former  NYC paramedic who is now on DSS after hurting my back some time ago on the job. Right now  the love of my life is very ill from an unknown medical condition. 3 days ago she started bleeding from her nose and mouth so I made an emergency  3AM run to a 24hr vet hospital where she was evaluated by a very nice vet but because I could not pay for treatment we were sent home. The next morning I rushed her to my vet as she was once again choking on her own blood. My vet,  Dr. Obernesser from Uptown Vets who is a saint from Heaven did some preliminary tests that showed that Pebbles spleen was enlarged but first and foremost she needed a blood transfusion and because they do not stock blood products there we made another emergency run, this time to the ASPCA.
Pebbles was denied any medical care because of my inability to pay anything towards her bill.
She hadn't even been triaged by a vet to see just how sick she was.
When I was working I had made monthly contributions to the ASPCA for years thinking that the money would in part be used for people who were  like me and couldn't afford vet care for their very ill pets. I could not understand why I could not now be helped in the same way. Pebbles bled wherever went in the clinic there but a financial counselor there said that her platelets were not low enough to warrant a transfusion.
I insisted we see a vet and a very kind vet did eventually see her and said that she did need transfusions and much more complicated and extensive care. The final approximate bill totaled $2,036.65, money I did not have. The cheapest treatment was steroids which I bought even though it might damage her heart and lungs. Last nite she started bleeding and choking again and all I could do was try and clear her airway and pray for the best.
Pebbles is the last of a quartet of 2 dogs and 2 cats who all grew up together. They have all passed away and she is my last dog. I have had spinal surgery and a total knee replacement in the last 2 years so that I could finally walk her the way she should be walked. I love her more than anything in my life and I just want to give her the best chance possible of getting well.
She is the reason I get up everyday and the first thing I see when I walk through my door- her smile and wiggly butt.
Anything contributed  would go straight to the ASPCA for her care.
I thank anybody and everybody from the bottom of my soul for any amount that we get.
I also ask for everybodies prayers for her recovery.
