My wife and I have struggled to financially survive for the last four years since moving to Alabama to start a small business. We have done everything we can to get ahead without having to ask for help. However, we have reached the end of the rope. We had managed to rack up over $50,000 in debt, we are behind on rent now by a month, and now our 2 year old son, Callahan, has become very ill with Guillian-Barre Syndrome. Thankfully, it is treatable and in most cases the nerve damage caused by the auto-immune system attacking the nervous system can even be reversed in children. It is an extremely rare disease with fewer than 20,000 cases per year. We thank God for His grace and protection over our Cal, because some of the alternatives could have been life threatening. However, our insurance, like most these days, doesn't cover a large portion of his treatment and hospital stay which will be a minimum of 5 days. Needless to say, we fall further into debt, and we don't know what else to do at this point than to ask for help from our family and friends. I'm a prideful man, and this has been very difficult to admit that I am out of answers; I am out of ways to rob Peter to pay Paul. I am asking for your help, so that I may put my family back on a path that doesn't cause my wife to cry almost daily about the massive financial burden that my dream of owning my own business has caused. I ask for help for my son, Callahan, so that we may get him the treatment he needs to once again be a healthy, strong boy, pay off his medical bills and stay caught up on rent to keep a roof over his head, along with his brother, sister and my worderful wife, Stephanie.
