Hi, my name is Amy and a little over a year ago my son Harry was involved in a serious car accident alongside his dad and two of his brothers. Luckily his brothers escaped with cuts and bruises but his dad Ern was severely injured, and as for Harry, he very nearly lost his life. He underwent lifesaving surgery and ended up staying on ward L42 at the LGI for two months. During this time he had further surgeries and procedures, was hooked up to all kinds of tubes and wires to manage his pain and injuries and had to be fed via TPN as his injuries left him unable to digest food. He also had to deal with being fitted with a stoma.
Throughout all of the this, the care Harry and us a family received from L42 was exceptional. They became like a second family to us and the care and compassion they gave us helped us through the worst times. They did everything above and beyond to make Harry comfortable and we’re always there when he (and me!) were upset and overwhelmed. They enabled contact and wheelchair visits from his dad too who was recovering on a different ward which gave them both a boost.
Harry and I are organising a charity golf day to raise money for the ward, but we have been asked by non golfers how they can donate- so here it is!
The money raised will go towards making stays on the ward more bearable for children and their families by assisting with acquiring new games consoles, games, craft materials and entertainment, as well as helping to update the family room and bathrooms for parents/guardians.
we really appreciate any donation no matter the size, and if a donation is not something you are able to do then simply sharing this would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much everyone ❤️
