Oliver is 11 years old. He is a happy and lively character with a great personality and sense of humour! He loves spending time with his friends and family, is addicted to gaming on his Xbox and he loves watching his favourite YouTubers.
Most of all his is funny and crazy!!
Tragically Oliver was diagnosed with the life limiting muscle wasting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This means that as there is no cure, his muscles have been wasting away since birth and by the time Oliver reaches his teenage years he could be in the early stages of heart failure and unable to use his limbs. Due to his condition he will also develop breathing difficulties and need to use an electric wheelchair full time to carry out his daily living. Oliver currently uses an electric wheelchair to get about.
He will have to face a lot in his life due to having this condition.
Boys with this condition are now living longer, but due to this, it's putting a huge strain on the NHS and they struggle to provide equipment that is needed to keep these boys alive! Shockingly, equipment to make them more comfortable and provide them with some dignity and independence are just not provided at all. As a family we feel that we owe it to Oliver that he does not have to wait for equipment that can keep him alive! This fund would enable us to help Oliver when things start to become more difficult for him and assist with all his future needs, as unfortunately time will not be on his side and with this condition you just never know when it will develop, by what stage and by when.
We have created this fund is to show our dedication and commitment to Oliver to keep him comfortable as he gets older with as much independence as possible and to fund his equipment and any other future needs such as life changing technology and holidays that would create special memories for Oliver.
Any amount will be so greatly received and will go to helping Oliver to lead a rich and rewarding life with this cruel condition.
His fund was started just after Oliver was diagnosed and lots of friends and family joined Oliver's Army to help get this fund underway. Without their help and continued support we would not have been able to raise what we have so far!
Thank you from our little man Oliver!
