Friends and family! Carrie and Krista here to take a few to tell you about our gorgeous, radiant friend Danece. Back in November, this spunky lady was in a 4-car pile up in which she sustained a hairline fracture in her right arm, burns, a hematoma on each shin...doctors were also concerned about an internal hematoma. Because of concern regarding internal bleeding, the hospital ordered a CAT scan. Shockingly, doctors discovered a sizable tumor on her pancreas.
While she is now recuperating from the accident, there is a long road ahead for the removal of the tumor. Surgery to remove the mass is scheduled for February 4. She's had numerous medical appointments to prepare her for this intensive operation.
Recovery will be long and will start with at least eight days in the hospital, if not more. Surgery will be followed by mandatory bed rest for about a month and a few more months of minimal activity to aid proper recuperation. The doctors have warned that this surgery is highly painful and somewhat risky but we trust all is God's control. Danece's family will be out here for two weeks both pre and post-op to help in her recovery process.
As a result of skyrocketing costs for multiple medical appointments, deductibles, co-pays, tests, and hospital visits from both her accident and the tumor discovery, Danece has had to pick up a THIRD job during a time that should be spent focusing on recovery. Additionally, during her bedrest period, disability will only cover a portion of her current income.
We have never seen Danece have a bad day, even in light of her current circumstance. She has touched so many of our lives with her joyful, gregarious, Christ-like spirit! Many people have been asking how they can help; going back and forth to appointments and the hospital is not only emotionally exhausting but also financially draining. Let's come together and shower her with blessings the way she has been a blessing to all of us. Anything you can donate goes a long way! Your prayers during this time are also highly coveted.
