"Kindness Matters"

What if it happened to you?
What if your life was going just as you had always hoped it would....married to someone you love, three beautiful children, living in a community full of wonderful neighbours and friends...and then one day the rug gets swept out from under you. You hear that awful "C" word and the fight begins.  Appointments, juggling, stressing, reassuring and through it all, trying to remain optomistic and positive. Trying to keep your head above water in more ways than one.
This is happening to a friend of mine. To someone who never expected this kind of upset in her life. Her husband has been diagnosed with cancer and has been fighting since last year. Neither she or her husband are able to work right now and their funds are quickly depleting. Their latest battle was just today when he had surgery to remove a tumor on his spine which so far seems to have been very successful.
All I can think of is "What if that happened to me?" and I feel heart sick.
Truth is, it could happen to any one of us. And I think that if it did, we would hope that our community would embrace us. That friends and strangers alike would do their best to help, to ease the burden.
So that is what I am asking of you. If you have the ability to spare some extra cash to help these guys out, I know they would certainly appreciate it.
