My Dad Lost His Home in a Fire — No Insurance, Disabled, and Barely Made It Out

Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be writing this, but my dad and our family need help more than ever.
A fire recently broke out in my dad’s home. Half the house was severely damaged by flames, and the rest was severely damaged when the fire department had to flood it to stop the fire from spreading. Doors were busted in and windows were shattered.
This wasn’t just his home. My sister, her boyfriend, their 2-year-old daughter (my dad’s granddaughter), and my dad's brother also live there. Now, the house has been immensely damaged, and some areas are unlivable.
To make matters worse, there is no insurance on the home. He survives on Medicare, disability, and welfare, so recovery without help just isn’t possible.
Right now, we’re not asking to rebuild it all at once — we’re just trying to put a band-aid on it: clean up the damage, make parts of the home livable again, and replace essential items like my dad’s bed, medical equipment, and some basics for the rest of the family. If we’re blessed enough to raise more for long-term repairs, that would mean everything.
Even the cost of a Starbucks coffee can help this man and his family begin to rebuild their lives.
Our father is still currently in the hospital but seems to be improving. I want to ask that we don't overwhelm him with messages and calls just yet. He has no idea we are doing this and would love to keep it that way until we come to wrapping this up.
Whether you can donate or just share this page, thank you. Every bit helps — and we’re truly grateful.
With love and appreciation,
The Olivares Family
