Beloved Musician Left in Ashes
The Bear River fire that burned through Grass Valley took the home of Melinda Rayne, a highly-respected colleague and dear friend. Her home and life possessions were reduced to ashes in a matter of minutes. We are so thankful that Melinda, her husband John (and their kitty) were able to get out in time and are safe, but we can only imagine how overwhelming this must be for them. As the area has not been declared an "emergency" by the Governor, there is no help from FEMA (nor, as of yet, from the insurance company), leaving Melinda and John homeless and living in a hotel for the foreseeable future.
Many friends and colleagues have asked how they can help Melinda and John through this emotionally and financially-devastating time. Starting a GoFundMe site was the first step in creating a way we could all come together to help support this much-loved family in our musical community.
Please feel free to share this link with others, (via email, facebook & all social media, word of mouth), and spread the word to all so we can create the biggest “cushion” possible for Melinda and John as they navigate this ordeal.
Thank you for your help!
