Christian Post, a most dedicated Marine, father and husband.
We had the honor of serving with Post in 1st Anglico in the late 90s. His selfless service and dedication to his craft counted him among the best our country has to offer.
After his service in the Marines he would go on to manage a small chain of fitness centers. This gave Post the flexibility to stay home and raise his two sons alongside his beautiful wife.
This past summer I was able to reconnect with Christian at the Anglico reunion and hear how his life had unfolded. I was so proud of the work he had done in the fitness space and how he loved his family life.
While everyone was staying in hotels and RVs for the event, Post opted for a much simpler accommodation. He trecked off to the treeline, ruck in hand and hung a hammock just 20m of the trail. I can't say any of us were surprised by this as Post had always been a hard charger.
The event energized and motivated Christian to be more involved in veterans issues. When he got home he began a 100 mile ruck to raise $ for veteran suicide prevention. He would often post his progress online for us to follow. His progress would be sandwiched between his corny dad jokes and his knowledge of military history.
With a heavy heart I must report that last week Christian had a heart malfunction. His brain function never recovered.
Today his wife and children must make the most difficult decision, to follow his last wishes and be taken off life support. In death as in life Christian Post will put service above self and is his final act of compassion, kindness and service he will donate his organs so others may live.
Christian, As you pass from this plane to the next know that you are loved and will be missed and the rest of us are right behind you just waiting for our green light.
Your stick just got called first so you secure the DZ and Remember when landing "keep your feet and knees together."
It is an honor to know you, to serve alongside you and to carry your name in my heart.
Rest easy my friend,
We will take it from here.
