Gail's Medical and Funeral Expenses
Hi my name is Gail Shelby. I was born with a genetic disease that none of my family had known or dealt with. I noticed in my very early 40s that it was getting more difficult to breathe after walking a distance or excersise. My husband and I along with another couple formed a singing ministry and we called it Eternal Vision, singing all over the country. This year is our 27th year of ministry. I have not been able to sing or go with the group in the last 2 years. 2014 I spent more time in the hospital than at home. The disease I have is Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency and I have Broncheactisis completely covering my left lung and 3/4 of my right lung. After my last visit this week from my pulminologist my lung funtion had gone from 45 to 31. It was a huge drop in a short amount of time. They are submitting my file to Vanderbilt Hospital for a double lung transplant. I have not been able to work in over 2 years but the doctor bills, hospital bills, radiology and on and on, keep coming in along with our insurance being increased by $300.00 per month. The estimate for a double lung transplant is over $90,000.00. I am scared, my husband seems like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders trying to keep everything going. I can't be left alone so we pay a care taker for me as well. I have fallen twice and broke my back in 2 places. I went from owning a photography studio, co-hosting a television show that had been on the air 57 years straight, doing radio and so on. Now I have to be helped from one room to the next with oxygen 24 hours a day. Whatever you can do is greatly appreciated. I have always BELIEVED that God has a perfect plan and I will continue to BELIEVE that.
